Hair Mineral Analysis

See the patterns beneath your energy.

HMA offers a longer-view look at mineral patterns using a small sample of hair. It can add useful context when energy, stress resilience, recovery, or everyday nutrition feel harder to understand than they should.

Why HMA May Benefit You

Useful context when symptoms feel disconnected.

Minerals support energy production, nervous-system signalling, muscle function, thyroid physiology, blood-sugar regulation, antioxidant defence, and the way the body responds to stress. HMA cannot diagnose the cause of a symptom, but it can reveal patterns worth considering when the usual advice has felt too generic.

  • 01

    A longer-view sample

Blood levels can change quickly and are tightly regulated. Hair grows slowly and records elements deposited during growth, giving a different—though not interchangeable—view over a longer window.

  • 02

    Relationships, not isolated numbers

The report considers both individual elements and mineral relationships, such as calcium to magnesium, sodium to potassium, and zinc to copper. These ratios are interpreted as patterns, not diagnoses.

  • 03

Essential and selected potentially toxic elements

The laboratory measures concentrations of nutritional minerals and selected elements associated with environmental exposure in the submitted hair sample.

  • 04

    A more focused starting plan

Your results can help us prioritize food-first and lifestyle foundations, avoid random supplement stacking, and decide when another type of assessment or medical follow-up is more appropriate.

HMA is an educational screening tool. Hair products, environmental contamination, sampling technique, laboratory method, and individual biology can affect results; findings must be interpreted alongside symptoms, history, and other appropriate testing.

What HMA Does

Measures elements deposited in a small hair sample.

A small amount of untreated hair is cut close to the scalp and analyzed by a laboratory. The report organizes the measured concentrations into essential minerals, selected potentially toxic elements, and mineral ratios so we can look for broad patterns over time.

  • 01

    Macromineral patterns

Includes foundational minerals commonly discussed in relation to structure, muscle and nerve function, fluid balance, and stress physiology—such as calcium, magnesium, sodium, and potassium.

  • 02

    Trace-mineral patterns

Looks at smaller-volume elements involved in enzymes and metabolism, which may include zinc, copper, manganese, chromium, selenium, molybdenum, and others depending on the laboratory panel.

  • 03

    Selected potentially toxic elements

May identify elevated concentrations of elements such as lead, mercury, cadmium, arsenic, or aluminum in the hair sample. An abnormal result does not establish toxicity or its source and may require confirmatory medical testing.

  • 04

    Mineral ratios and pattern context

Compares key relationships rather than treating one result as the answer. I interpret these patterns conservatively and connect them to the information in your intake.

Who This Is For

When mineral patterns may add a useful piece.

These symptoms are common and can have many causes. HMA does not prove that a mineral imbalance is responsible, but it may offer additional context when you want a non-invasive, foundational place to begin.

Is It Right for You?

A focused next step, not another guess.

This may be a fit if…

You want an accessible first look at foundational patterns before choosing a more comprehensive test.

You have been guessing at supplements and want a more thoughtful, food-first direction.

You want answers and a plan you can implement independently, without joining a longer program.

Good to know

Hair products, colouring, water exposure, supplementation, and other factors can affect hair samples. You will receive preparation guidance, and results will always be considered alongside your broader context.

Functional testing is educational and wellness-focused. It does not diagnose, treat, or replace care from your physician or another licensed medical provider.

Common Questions

Before you begin.

Does cutting the hair hurt?

No. Only a small sample is collected close to the scalp, from an area that is easy to conceal. You will receive clear instructions.

Is HMA the same as a blood test?

No. Hair and blood provide different kinds of information and should not be treated as interchangeable. HMA measures elements present in the submitted hair sample over a longer growth window; blood testing reflects circulating levels at a particular time and may be more appropriate for diagnosis or medical monitoring.

Can I test soon after colouring my hair?

For the best-quality sample, wait 4–6 weeks after colouring or chemically treating your hair so there is enough untreated new growth to collect close to the scalp. Bleaching, perming, straightening, medicated shampoos, and heavy product use can also affect results, so please tell me about any recent treatments before collecting.

Will you recommend supplements?

Your protocol may include food, routine, and carefully considered foundational support. Recommendations are based on the full context and are not a substitute for medical care.

How long does the process take?

The laboratory can take up to two weeks to process your sample. Once I receive the report, I begin my analysis and build your personalized protocol, then we schedule your private review call. Expect approximately 2–3 weeks from laboratory receipt to your completed review process, although shipping, laboratory volume, or other delays can occasionally extend the timeline.
